I wanted to share a picture of the longbox I entered in the working class longbox division this year . This call is made from beautiful clear poplar along with ipe, and tiger maple , accented with my favorite, padauk . My good friend Gregg Guthridge did a wonderful job of decorating the cal for me . His artwork really makes it stand out !
I had all intentions of buying this call back and planned to hunt with it this year . Unfortunately , I missed the close of the auction and the call sold to a complete stranger . I was bummed out to say the least ! I questioned a few people who I knew were planning to bid on it too , and asked who bought it . Phil ( turkeystew) came up and told me about helping a guy bid on the call . He assured me that I would be at ease with losing the call , once I met the fella who bought it .
This is a picture of me with Larry Shipman , who just so happens to be from Ohio also . Larry came by the booth on Sunday and asked if he could get a picture of me with the call . Before our meeting was over , we discussed sharing a hunt together this spring ! I look forward to rolling some gobblers with Larry . And Phil, you were absolutely right ! I couldn't be any happier with who the call went home with !!

Bob,
I met this gentleman during the silent auction. People were crowding around the table as usual. I noticed and along with a couple of other guys, we made sure to keep his bids on the sheet. I never realized it was your call but he was sure glad when it ended and he was the winner.

Bob, that is one fine looking call!
I am sure the fine gentleman that bought it will have a hard time taking it to the field.
However, all calls beg to get bloody just to prove their worth!

I remember that one very well. Phil and my wife, Jenny, were in the pack making sure he got his bid in. That is a beautiful call Bob.
