OLD CHESTNUT
« on: July 24, 2011, 09:14:19 AM »
Hey fellers ,
I'm looking for some advice or general help about this old chestnut my uncle has . He is unable to hunt due to age and physical condition . He called it a stack of planks . His estimation of measurements is 1 inch thick . 8 to 10 inches in width , and some planks being 12 feet in length . Also he said it is at least 100 years old .

Anyone willing to advise on the value ? I realize that without pictures or being able to actually see the wood hinders anyone from making an accurate assessment .

I'm just doing this for his benefit . I have no interest in the wood . I know little about woods , working woods , or making calls with wood. And the only call I make is made of brass and have no desire to start any other type call than what I'm making now . I say this in an effort to try and have you see I'm not in this for myself .

Any thoughts , comments or advice will be greatly appreciated .

 Many thanks ,
Mark

Uncle Brad will be returning to Ol' Kaintuck this week . I'll ask him to examine the wood , and give me a detailed description as to its condition .

I'll pass it on to him also that some are interested in a couple boards. It's clearly up to him .

I'll keep you fellers informed .
