Spoke to Adam again this evening---here is the latest ...
Bulldog finally arrived at Emory last night. He has been stabil all day and finally got to see the Thorascis surgeons today. They did their own tests there and confirmed that the local doctors at the local hospital where he lives were wrong in their prognosis. They (local doctors ) had diagnosed Mike with two holes in his lungs that were in thir opmion the problem....WRIONG !!! It is a miricle that the family made the right decesion to relocate him to Emory. Emory says that Mike has a cluster(for no better description) if air sack withing the lungs that have clustered together and become infected. Thet are retaining fluid and putting alot of pressure on his labored lungs---restricting his already damaged lungs as we all know. This mass(no a tumor!!) is the size of a SOFTBALL from Adams description. This could have been really bad had the correct diagnosis not been found by Emory. Mike has been in very serious situation and fighting hard for his life.
Emory plans to operate on his lung Friday around 5 oclock PM. The doctors will attempt this with a scope but if the repair cannot be done that way, they will have to open him up to do it.
It wont be until a few days later that they will know if Mike will retain the effecency he previouslly had with his lungs which was low at best. They hope this will correct his problem. The doctors have given the family the only hope for him sense this began. Mike faces the possibility after the procedure that if his lung condition worsened from this episode, the he will need a trach, which will entail therapy after release from the hospital.
The doctors at Emory have got on the right patch thankfully and feel they can give Mike at least a fighting chance now.
Lets keep Bulldog and his family close in our minds and our prayers as they cross this next step towards getting Mike back and well again.
