Moonlighting in Kentucky with Brent Stoner

[Shadetree Callers]

 Last month I made the three hour drive south to visit my good friend Brent Stoner in Louisville, Ky. We decided to build a few calls together while I was in town . We started off sawing out two Cost style boat paddles and a shortbox to match one of the paddle calls. We chose butternut and canarywood for the combo on both calls and added rosewood inlays on the shortbox and purpleheart inlays on the boatpaddle. We took a break in between calls and Brent took me out for some awesome barbecue at a joint called Mark's. Then it was back on for the rest of the day and into the night . At nearly 11:00 p.m. (we look it ,for sure) we finished up with these two great-sounding callers . They both came out very nice and I was proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Brent while we sweated away on this set ! Brent's beginning work on his own line of boxcalls and hopefully we'll see some more out of him before too long ! I can't thank Bob enough for taking time to come by and spending the day and most the night with me making call dust in my new shop. Bob is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to call making. What a pleasure it was to have him in my shop and It will be a day I will always remember. As many of you know I was a founding member of DCC. I'm no longer with that company anymore. I have decided to move forward and go out on my own as a small call maker and control my own destiny from this point on. I refuse to be a victim of corporate greed again!! I want to give a heart felt thank you for  the support I have received from quite a few member's on this fine forum  . I've got a new opportunity to build some fine caller's with some even finer call maker's and good friends.   Now about the picture Bob posted, I'm so proud of the call's Bob and I built together it was a honor and pleasure to work side by side with a great call maker and friend, I hope they won't be the last we do!!! It's after mid-night when this picture was taken.  Bob and I want to thank Mckamey for stopping by also to be in our photo. It just happens that due to Jeff's age and memory he forgot he turns into a punkin head after mid-night.  So really that's Jeff  sitting right behind Bob and I cheering us on. Thanks Bob and Jeff for coming by and let's do it again real soon!!.... Your always welcome anytime Bud!

Well that might be a motley crew, but those are some sweet callers and from what I hear they could take some ribbons as well   Brent, congrats are out to you sir for having the integrity to stand tall and hold your ground.  You'll do well and as you say, the decisions will be yours--the good and the bad, but you'll be moving forward according to your plan.

On the McKamey issue...well I think you summed him just right
