Walnut over Osage
« on: March 01, 2011, 10:43:10 AM »
Well as some of ya'll know I been working on a little call for a few weeks. Yesterday I made a subtle but critical change that made a world of difference. There ain't many strait lines to her as she was hand planed from a bow stave that warped during drying. Just enough wood and some luck produced this little lady. She's a pretty little girl and I believe she may be the death of a few turkeys this spring!

Say, I believe I can see a gobbler waltzing out the woods in the background right now just curious about that death call he heard on that stump.  A fine looking caller--nice work

Jeff, she sounds pretty good to me. Course I'm tone deaf from it. Not real loud as long boxes go. But i guarantee a turkey will here it a long way off. If I had similar wood I wouldn't be afraid to try another one. It was definitely a learning and praying journey from beginning to end! I think I'm starting to get the hang of it!
