I presently have six copper pot calls. Some of them are just pure turkey. They have the sound that birds seem to respond to and they have become one of my favorite surfaces. I also have a couple copper calls that have that metallic clang that I really do not care for and these calls will not be used. My advise on a copper call would be to run it before you buy it. The right copper call is a killer in the turkey woods.

Copper does not become a call surface, unitl it hits a call makers Hands Mike, so in reality, it is all, about the call maker.

You can not judge the sounds of a copper call, until it hits the hands of a tried and True call maker of friction.

My meaning is, you can make 5 pots from novice friction call makers, and everyone will probably say, I am not so much into the copper.

Put that copper in the hands of a Experienced Friction maker, and the " Tunes " will change.

Copper has its place in the woods as do many. Ya never know WHAT, the Old man wants to hear that day. All about HIS Mood, what he wants to hear, wednesday, may be slate, thursday, may be copper.

Copper has its place in the woods, Killed to many birds to not have.

Good advise Rickey, we always ship, tell the customer to play the call a few days and if they are happy then pay us, if not just send it back and everybody is happy!

That is a good policy Mike. I think about all the callmakers on this forum do that. But sometimes you get a call that just does not sound right and you do not want to offend someone so you just keep it.

Another thing I have found with copper calls more so than with other surfaces is that the striker can really change how a call sounds. If you get one that has that "metallic clang" run several strikers on it before you give up on it.

Exactly. Well said Spur. I've seen some that should have never left wood box.

I like copper calls,they have been good too me.. The only thing I notice is they need more conditioning then other calls. But when they are right,they sound great!
