The ivory call is spectacular, and has me thinking......how in the ........the transition from the bottom of the checker boards to the mouth opening is flawless.

It's so funny that you would mention this, Steve.  It's not like it's the most beautiful feature on the call.  But sanding between those panels and beneath them toward the moutpiece was probably the most time consuming, tedious part of the whole job.  I kept wishing/searching for some better way to sand besides folding up tiny pieces of sand paper and rubbing.  But, in the end, it's just elbow grease.  Your ivory call was beautiful as well.  I looked at every picture I could find of it:).  I really appreciate the compliments about this call from everyone.  It was a rare priviledge to be able to work with a piece of ivory that big.  Probably never get the chance again.

I know that it isn't what draws your eye, but rather what "would" draw your eye if it wasn't done right. It's one of my favorite features on the call !!!!

Mike those are two outstanding pieces of artwork, your patience and talent in sculpting the fine detail really stand out.  Did you by any chance keep track of the hrs you put into either of these calls, if so would you care to share with us?

Thanks.  I don't keep track of the time.  But I started those two in November and finished them in February.  Like most guys I have a full time job that isn't making calls.  So, I only work on them on weekends and holidays, and the occassional evening.
