One piece vs a two piece......

Heavy or light? I have found some calls prefer a heavy striker and some like a light striker.

I make more consistent, realisic turkey sounds with a light touch and a light striker.....

    The density of the wood has an awful lot to do with the sounds created, too...

I like the  one piece strikers  On most calls  , but all calls are different, trying lots of different strikers on your calls  will get that sound out of that call that you are looking for. I have a old HS Strut two piece hickory that i have used so much that the post is getting a curve in it from holding it the same way.

Do you prefer a 1 or a 2 piece striker??

     I like a 1 piece striker........ more consistent sound & better balance......

Both -- below are two strikers that ALWAYS ride in the vest.  A whittled one piece osage striker from a good friend who passed recently, and a two-piece corncob and hen bone from the Snozz, which makes early morning, sleepy-sweet hen talk.  



I also carry one-piece maple striker, and a one-piece black cherry striker, each I whittled myself.  The only other two-piece is a Woods Wise all-weather striker for rain days.

I find what I like and stick with it though...strikers are something I don't change out often.  That osage striker above, been in the vest since spring 1999 when he let me pick it out of his stash in MD one sunny spring afternoon.

I use both but I tend to use the 1 piece more for some reason. Maybe it's balance, who knows. My favorite 2 piece was from my Grandpa's Lynch Jet. He broke the slate & I got the striker but I've misplaced it 

If anyone's got an extra Jet striker laying around let me know! I just want the striker

I like both. But I have a 1 piece aluminum striker that makes any glass call sound like an award winning call

Daryl and I were just discussing this and I open this thread up.  I despise a two piece striker, but I've seen on some calls where that is the best striker for that call.

Daryl and I are hammering away at his Nashville calls and I sound better on most calls with a one piece and he does with a two piece striker he's built. 

Two different playing styles and the one piece tends to work better for me

I think my buddy Al has even started turning one piece with his callers now too.  I pester him and Daryl when they sell a call with a two piece striker 

For me, one piece is the way to go!
