Well Indiana has moved the 2011 season back a week later this year. My buddy and I were talking and he thinks the toms will be harded to hunt due to the fact most if not all the breeding will be almost done if not finished completely. Im thinking it will be easier to hunt them because they wont be henned up so bad. So what do you guys think?

I don't think you will have a problem. I called up strutters even in June in IL to take pics of. Plus there is some late breeding too. That's why you see all different sizes of poults in the summer.

Here in GA. and Alabama a week wouldn't make a lot difference!

In Pa. we hunt after the breeding cycle is over every year it won't make any difference turkeys don't have a cut off date.

 It's more of a mind game than anything else. The turkeys will still be there....you just may have to hunt harder.

In Mississippi, sometimes they cycle out and it is like at given signal they all corkscrew in the ground.  You don't see or hear them after the apointed time.  Sometimes if the river stays up late, you whack a boatpaddle on a tree and they come running.  The river seems to be the deciding factor as to whether they cycle out or not.

It's more of a mind game than anything else. The turkeys will still be there....you just may have to hunt harder.

I agree with Bill. I notice here in Georgia, that as the season winds to an end, you have to use different tactics and calling sequences than you would at the beginning of the season. It takes even more patience to bag one, compared to the begiining of the season. I know most public land birds have been messed with to a point where they may not even respond to a call. They usually come in quite, if even that.

Our weather here changes from year to year, so it's always a guess.  Tctics are a bit different, but there are always birds a hammering!

Indiana's season starts April 27th. It was the 21st. You can try Indiana dept. of natural resources= INDNR. The web-site has a section just for the 2011 turkey season. Good Luck, Crappiepro

Lol I did figure it out after I read last years dates.

Here in Pa our season always starts the last weekend in april. Last year i Bagged gobbler last week of May. I hadn't heard a gobble  in  a week and a half. This gobbler showed up to days in a row, But never made a sound, the first day he came in he stopped at about 55 steps, a little far for my muzzleloader. The second day i set up a little closer in the direction he came from, killed him at about 15 yards.  Both days i only called twice in about two hours, Once right after daylight then about 1 hour later.

That's a good hunt
