I chuckled when I read about Scotty whining about this and that not working, a few years back I ordered a box call from Scotty. He had posted some pictures of some box calls with spalted walnut, and I wanted one, especially when I heard the sound file. As most box call makers know, spalted woods can be trouble, and after several phone calls and Scotty telling me it wasn't going to work, he fgured out a way. It was well worth the wait for me and Scotty's gray hairs,lol. Scotty is  very meticulous and the box call was a fine example of the sweetest sounding southern hen I have ever played.

Dang Thanks Dave.......Thanks everyone for the comments........I remember the box Dave.....I ended up planning the spalted walnut down to about 1/16" and laminating it to cherry.....Here is a picture of it.......Thanks again guys.
