An option insted of hen bone and goose bone bones
« on: October 10, 2010, 07:48:24 AM »
Saw a yelper with a large porcupine quill in the top part of the bone and it worked great. Guy says they are African porcupine quills (large) and some are perfect. They are plentiful on eBay! Just FYI for thos needing that smaller top bone!

Not as resilient as as a bone but you don't need to bore them. Not sure if you can stabilize them, either.

The large African Quills have been used by others for years , not really a perfered source for a mouthpiece but will work and like said they are pretty neat. They can be hardened and filled then re drilled for the proper size but it is a lot of work for a mouthpiece.
