Banishing God From Our Classrooms

I seriously need duct tape just to make it through the day to survive. If I don't wrap my head up tight, it's going to explode just from reading the news of the day.

Our Karl Marx-loving administration is trying to spend its way out of a debt crisis; we're about to send a progressive to the Supreme Court (remember, progressives think the Constitution is an outdated document), and then there are stories like this out of Arlington High School in Massachusetts:

A student there named Sean Harrington noticed something odd: There were no American flags in the classroom and no Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Sean decided to try and get flags put back in the classroom and to have students start reciting the Pledge of Allegiance again. Seems like a benign request, right? Not in Massachusetts. It's been three years — three years — since Sean took up the oh-so-controversial fight of getting American flags back in American classrooms.

Sean finally got them to relent on the flags, but the Pledge has been a different story. The principal, Charles Skidmore, finally agreed to lead the Pledge, not in class but in the foyer for those who wish to attend. The school said: "The principal wanted to be very respectful about the Pledge and be sensitive to the Supreme Court ruling that students are not forced to say the Pledge. He wanted to be sensitive to the diverse group of students we have."

Diverse group of students? Look, if you don't want to say the Pledge, whatever, you don't have to. But what part of that "diverse group" of students doesn't want to recite it?

How did we even get to a place where we are even having this debate? The Pledge of Allegiance? The flag in class? Really? Where was the tipping point on this? Do the majority of people think the Pledge is offensive or is this a bogus tipping point? Who exactly is offended?

The school originally rejected Harrington's request because, "some educators are concerned that it would be hard to find teachers willing to recite it." Really? That's even worse! If that's true and teachers won't recite the Pledge, then maybe it's time to start firing teachers. My 4-year-old recites the Pledge and that's one reason my kids are not in public school.

Amen Bill.  Doesn't surprise me, the Bible says Christian values will be tested, mocked and condemned.  Hold tight to your solid values, it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

Friends all you can say in this rapidly changing world is to be ready!!! Revalations tells us of these things coming to pass. Jesus tells us that He'll come as a thief in the night and that no one knows the hour except the Father. I don't get bogged down in newspaper articles because I believe in a soviergn God. He is in controll.

We, as a nation, have strayed so far from the truth. We as individuals have strayed so far from the truth. In order to realiegn our nation, we must first start with ourselves. We allow lesbians to preach from the pulpits. How did that happen? We allow Muslems to sit in our congress. How did that happen? We allow women to become Senators and Representatives and Supreme Court Justices. I'm no male chauvanist but the Bible says women shall not have dominion over men. People of America don't fear God any longer. In fact we've even raised atheletes and actors up to godly standards. People have closed their Bibles and cranked up the T.V's. I've heard it said that "dusty Bibles lead to dirty lives." We have quit witnessing for God for fear of persecution and because of lack of knowledge. The Bible tells us that if we proclaim Christianity, we will be persecuted. I know that I for one have a ways to go before feeling worthy enough to stand before the Lord and hear "well done, my good and faithful servant."

This is a subject that is especially heavy on my heart!
First: I never wanted anyone, especially at a school, having anything to do with teaching my kids about God!
Second: As parents, my wife and I thought and prayed hard about public verses private school! We decided on Public. How can Christians make a difference (even kids) if they isolate themselves. Yes we sacrificed quality of education, but we tried hard to supplement that, and it was always secondary.
Third: We always taught them to stand up for what their convictions were! (Patriotism was one), Some didn't like it but as a whole the faculty appreciated it, even if it was privately with a phone call!
Fourth" We taught them to be respectful but always speak up regardless of the consequences, if a teacher or student criticized God,  Country, The Word of God, Family Values as well as many other things. Did I get called to the school! You bet! Many times and I went with Pride, Never did either get expelled.
Fifth: In hindsight, quality of education was not good! But we do not regret our decision.
This is our family! May not be right for all. If they were girls....Not sure we would have gone the same route!

And I can say that the influence they has is very evident still today.
