It's not very often that I have a member join that I've known for many years on a large MO forum.  Recently, just that has happened.  Hunter7x comes from a board that is dominantly discussing deer hunting in MO.  He's a turkey slaying fool, but most importantly, I have to admire him for what he has done to get special needs youth out in the field!

I strongly believe, that everyone should have the chance/opportunity to get out in the field and I think we all know... if we do not get the youth involved hunting as we know it will cease to exist.

Steve started a great not-for-profit organization many years ago to help get several special needs kids out in the field each year.  Whether it's deer hunting or turkey hunting, he strives to give these kids an awesome opportunity.

Several of our members have helped Steve out in the past and have told me (from another perspective) how great this organization is.  Ghost Maker Calls (Ed Jenkins himself) is one of many that have contributed and he's had nothing but positive comments for this organization.

Here's Steve and the gangs website http://www.freedomhunt.com/ and I thought since I personally know Steve I'd give an introduction.  Don't let him fool you on not knowing much about turkey hunting...  I think that's a lil white lie :)  He's a very modest person that does put the kids first!  I also won't hold it against him that he calls Indiana home  ROTFLMBO

People who recognize the needs of others and offer their time and resources are special people in God's eyes and mine.

 Thanks for the intro Porter!

The Freedom hunt is a very special bunch of people who all came together to make one goal happen.  To be able to get some kids outdoors and interested in hunting that may never have had the opportunity.  I definately cannot take anywhere near full responsility for its successes.

I do appreciate those that have helped in the past and look forward to making new friends here. Please do visit our web page. There are lots of pictures and a great 14 minute long video that really shows what Freedom Hunt is all about.

I am definately becoming a turkey hunting fool!  I hunted here in Indiana for several years and managed to find one Jake that was dumb enough to get too close to the end of my gun and got shot. Then 8 years ago I won a contest on a Mo web site of which the prize was a guided turkey hunt in MO.  I managed to kill 2 birds in Mo that year, the first a classic hunt, my guide called a bird in from the roost and I was able to shoot straight enough to drop him. Since then my "guide" from that first hunt and I have become very close friends and have hunted other states for turkey and he has hunted with me here in Indiana for deer. That first hunt really lit a fire in me to turkey hunt more. Ive since then killed birds in Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota as well as several more in Missouri and Indiana. I've even set a goal for myself for a slam of my own making.  I plan on killing a bird in every state that has Turkeys in the United States.
I find myself enjoying Turkey hunting more and more and would say at this point it would be hard for me to choose between bowhunting for deer or turkey hunting.  Im glad they are at diffferent times of the year so I dont have to choose!

Thanks again for the intro and I look forward to making new friends and stepping up my Turkey hunting knowledge.

oh and I will ignore the Indiana comment....Go Butler!  *dance*

Just checked out your web page. While I'll admit I never heard of your organization it appears your doing great things for our youth. I wish we had more of these in California. Keep up the good work.

 Thanks Dave,
So far have limited our hunters to Indiana Youth only.  We are in the process of opening up the hunts to Indiana Military families that have a kids but mom and/or Dad are at war and cant take the kiddos hunting.  Im pretty excited about doing that also.
