Walnut & Ebony set

This is a set of two callers: one Walnut box with ebony lid and a matching scratchbox.
I am not the greatest photographer, so somehow the total perspective of the picture doesn't seem quite right to me but I can't put my finger on just what it is that is not in perspective. I know that what looks like blue chalk on the caller lid isn't there..must be flash reflection
