i need to go ahead and start stockpiling pads and butane.  if we have as many skeeters as we did last year, i'm gonna be running the thermacell every minute i am in the woods, especially on my middle georgia swamp hunts.

you are lucky.  we have them bad down here.  i will not leave for the woods without mine.  some folks use them for early season deer hunting, but it gives off way too much of a smell and i'm afraid that the deer would spook from it.  i can handle the gnats, but the skeeters are horribly.

i've never used for deer hunting because i'm afraid of swirling winds and the odor it puts off, but for turkey, you can't beat it.  i clip it right to my vest and then place in between my legs while hunting.  if you leave it on your vest, you are liable to wind up with a pretty good headache if it keeps blowing in your face.

... I agree with the odor thing rm - I was amazed that a few times I had deer come in d/w of me, & not seem to pick it up - but, then again, who knows what "I didn't get to see" ...

Late season I wouldn't be in the woods without one. They are a neccesity.

I bought one a couple of years ago and have used it for spring turkey.  They work very well IMO.  I still spray down in areas of high tick numbers.

I'm with ya Blake! I hunt the Savannah Wildlife Refuge, and its a most have. I know some guys have found out how to refill the fuel cells, to cut down on the cost .

there's a youtube video on how to do it, but i haven't tried it.

They work great on skeeters but the no-see-ums are not affected by it. I always carry a cigar for them......
