The Death of Remington

Well.....  Marlin will be saved at least, but appears it could be the end of Remington 700 and 870's.  What I've been reading on who bought them out..  real estate group.... 

So many rifles built off of the 700 action.  Wish Ruger could have bought it all, but bye bye to the longest standing American gun manufacturer   Hope I'm wrong, but gut says.. they are done.  I know the last few years their products were horrendous ....

I bought a new 20 gauge 870 two years ago that is just fine.  It's my new turkey hammer.  Several turkeys say it works just fine.

The 870's seem to be hit or miss... and about the only gun that was still reliable from them.  Their 700s had turned into a joke.  What once was a mighty fine shooting rifle turned into you never knew if it would or wouldn't go boom and the accuracy.. oh my...  My last tack driver I bought was a Bergara.  I love it and the gun shop talked me into it over another Remington 700.   I still have one 700 that is an absolute tack driver.  Glad I never got rid of it now!

Dad gave me his 700 BDL in 6mm.  He bought it in the 1970's.  I need to get a new scope on it.
I have a 760 also in 6mm.  Love it.  I also have 4 870's. The oldest was Uncle Don's 16 gauge that he bought the year that I was born.  The smoothest 870 I've seen. When he passed, I asked Aunt Martha, Mom's twin sister if I could buy it.  She wouldn't take a penny for it.  I squirrel hunted with it last year.

This isn't the first time that Remington has filed bankruptcy.  Hope they come through this one as well.

Maybe the new owners are going to do it right!  After reading about them, sounds like some diehard hunters and Remington lovers! 

I'm sure they have an uphill battle with all the bad media attention lately, but I'm a diehard Remington fan myself!   Hoping they keep them made in the and start building them right!!!
