It was a really, really good day in the final talley. Typical fall hunt in many ways. On birds at daylight but they wouldn't play fair. Stayed just off the property we could hunt but talked with us a good while. Found several more groups during the day and had some real close deals. Couldnt get in position for a good bust up. In range, no shots ...beards dragging the ground on a couple...they moved...we moved...they moved.....birds gobbling hard...hens, jakes, longbeards all tearing out the bone....they were all there and darting around and being turkeys. Steve got one hen all FIREDUP with one of his ceramic pots and it was crazy. Awesome time!! After several moves, different events and close calls, I finally thought it was all over and done and we were getting up to go at the last setup when Steve looked behind us and said "Good Gosh...here comes some more....about 30 of 'em!" I guess all the last round of commotion brought in a whole new bunch. Anyway, I kept cranking on the calls, they kept coming and Steve laid the hammer down. I never saw them till after he shot but believe me that after that shot I turned around quick and the sky was full of birds. Looked liked a big bunch of doves taking off. Yes sir, it was a great fall day in the woods and Steve, it was a pleasure and a privilege to spend the day with ya!! Glad ya liked the call Steve. I don't make too many pots...😉
