Here is a call that I routed out at daylight and just finished tuning. I will retire my prototype Turpin Shortbox that I have used for the past 20 years. I have killed a few birds with it when my Nephew would let me take it to the woods. I gave it to him 20 years ago as I wanted him to have a really good sounding box. Many of you have played it in Nashville and even a few had me call back to Ms. to see if he would take a certain $ amount for it. I cannot count the Short Boxes that have made using that box as the go to model.
This new box was made with a new template that I just cut using my Nephew's box. Ed Jenkins will be getting this template along with how I make these old school calls. Knowing how to tune these old school boxes and being consistant with it is the Key.
And NO I am not retiring from callmaking. In fact, I may be retiring, so that I can make more calls.
Here is the New Box, and let me say, it sounds better than it looks.
