I made these bone callers for a Man and his grandson I met on a group over on Facebook. John is raising his grandson by himself, and is teaching the lad to be an out -of- doors young man. I like that . John was originally from Pennsylvania and moved to Kentucky when he was in his 20's . He seen I lived in Pa. and wanted to know how things were, did I hunt bear, deer, and turkeys. We hit it off , and although we never met in person, I consider him to be a true friend . He sent me a batch of turkey bones, wanting me to make him sumpin' from them, and this is what I came up with. His call is a 3 bone yelper and his grandsons call is a two bone call. One big, one small .just like them. The Lanyards are adjustable as well . My artist friend, Sherry Meid, McConnellsburg Pa., etched a track all the way through the bell , allowing the blue color to show through. It did not change the sound, something I was fearful of . While the wrapping may be a little crude by some standards, it is the meaning and fellowship behind the calls that I hope gets the attention with this set. It is my intention that they become a family heirloom . I also made John one of my "SHELLper Yelpers " for him to hunt with as well. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, so I made it Red - White and Blue in honor of that . This is a 28 gauge / 22 Hornet combo, which has great sound to it . It is roughly the diameter of a Jordan Yelper, and has that same tone to it . I think he will be pleased with my results, and I hope it brings him turkeys and joy ! Thanks for the look/ see . Lonnie
