2014 PA fall harvest

   I harvested this jake bird on Friday morning, in PA 's Michaux State Forest. It was howling winds, 25 mph , and I managed to split up a 10-12 bird flock. Using an old logging road as a separation line, I quickly got set up and began calling with my Austin Hornberger, Maple over Mahogany presentation boxcall that I had just received a week earlier. This fella was the first bird back in to offer me a 35 yard shot with a model 43 Winchester in .22 Hornet. Austin makes a fine call, and his calls are quickly becoming my "go to "choice. This is my 3rd kill in 2 years using his products. Thanks Austin !!!

Thanks Bill, we are blessed to have a fine fall season here in PA ., and I like how it leads into bear and deer openers. It sure is a great time of year to get out there !!
