Big Snow
« on: November 18, 2014, 07:20:25 PM »
Hope that Fargobox Scott and GlenM are doing OK.  They are really getting hammered with the snow up there.  I've seen reports of snow OVER 4 feet and still coming down.  Saw one picture of a window in a house blown out by the weight of the snow.  Stay safe up there guys.

For you southern guys, this is the kind of snow they are dealing with.

Got this picture off of Twitter.

Steve the thing with lake effect snow is that a few miles one way or the other can make all the difference in snow fall totals. Glen lives I believe in the finger lakes and may be safe but if Scott is close to Buffalo then they are getting pounded.

Spoke with AJ (Arnie Jonathan). He said Buffalo was expecting 70 inches. He lives in Lockport, too, and they weren't getting any of that snow.

Scott says that he's ok.  Only a little over 6" where he is.  18 miles away they have over 5 feet of snow.  That's lake effect snow.

To all, we are good up here and yes the lake effect snow is an "interesting" wonder.  I have friends who live on the border of it this time.  They live about 300-400 yards apart north and south.   One, like me has only 6-8" and the other to the south 400 yards has 5.5 feet and they are almost guaranteed to get at least 18" more through the day today and 10" more tomorrow.  I live north of the traditional lake effect area by about 30-40 minutes.  Me and Arnie are fine...thanks all to looking in on us.
