This spring I was honored to be a special guest of Gene Goodwin at the Partnership Hunt held in Cambridge Ohio. Gene Goodwin is the former NWTF National President and he hosts an annnual hunt to honor the 10 NWTF scholarship winners in Ohio . Coincidentally the winner of the NWTF National Scholarship of $10,000 also went to one of our high school seniors. The ten students are taken out turkey hunting accompanied by a mentor and a guide over a 3 day weekend . If you look closely on the left you will see our own D. Marlin Watkins . Marlin graciously hosted one of the students at the Limbhanger Lodge and served as both mentor and guide on his personal property.
I built 5 Mahogany and 5 Sycamore scratchboxes each with chocolate maple inlays, one for each student to accompany them on this hunt . Also in attendance was NWTF Conservationist Dr. James Earl Kennamer . The weather was a little foul but turkeys were still harvested .
