Is there such a thing as TOO much chalk?

Some colors play better on some calls...believe it or not. Some like blue, some like white, some like brown and some orange. Guess it's what's in the chalk......Experiment with your different calls because not all like the same!

Dude that is a TON of chalk!!!!  I highly doubt you will ever use that much in your lifetime   Unless you go to finding out you enjoy the taste of railroad chalk

I ordered 1 box of the blue sticks and 1 box of the white that looks like a half rubber ball.......288 pieces of chalk. Gave all my nephews some for Christmas one year, plus sent some to a couple callmakers. And guess what, I've still got a plenty left!!!

the red chalk made by Dixon Ticonderoga (carpenters chalk) is by far superior to any others that I've tried,...the problem is they don't manufacturer it anymore,....it bites hold better than any other and is very important in getting that realistic high pitch front end,..if you can locate some of it grab on to it,....I was fortunate enough to get a lifetime supply for myself,...it is very messy and will not "dust off" like others,...it has no oil in it.

Was this the chalk that Primos sold?  It too was red and very dusty /messy.

I got the brownish/reddish chalk from Primos. I use the on my two custom short boxes I got from Jeff McKamey. It matches the chalk that was on the call when I got it from Jeff. It is a oil from chalk. The green would be a good color to use. I do not use white or blue in the woods.

Well, I called Markal the other day to find out whether or not the chalk has oil/wax/etc.  The first lady had no idea, so she transferred me to someone that "should know."  The guy wasn't positive, but he was fairly certain that the chalk contains no oil or wax.  He was much more interested in how/why I was using it on my box calls.  He is now anxiously awaiting the turkey-version of "Duck Dynasty," which I assured him would be premiering very soon, haha  .  Any takers for casting calls?
