Those members who disagree with Kip, I got one question?.... If this place is as horrible as some are making it out to be..... What's keeping you here?

 

I think that depends on who you ask.  For some, they were instrumental in getting this site off the ground and hope it will become a better site.  And some of those folks no longer post here, or post rarely, for some of the very reasons that have been discussed in this thread.

For others, they stay here because it sucks less than the other alternative.

For some, they have made friends here and use this place to buy and sell calls.

I think this situation is no different than what West Augusta posted to begin this thread, while discussing the other site, when he said "I guess that the lesson is that if you make calls, you have to pay Shannon to post there".   Many folks share that same view about that site, but remain there.

I have had to bite my tongue so much in the last month it is rediculous. I LOVE this forum , why??? Because we dont allow any bashing, bad mouthing or beratement. I have developed many many friendships through osage roost, and some wll last a lifetime. The true core group is made up of respectful members who understand that if you dont have something nice to say...dont say anything.
 For those of you who have spent the last few weeks trying to tell us that this site would be better if we run people in the dirt and allow you to say anything you want to and spend all your time trying to dismantle this awesome forum, I say .... try starting your own forum where all that is allowed . You will start no new friendships and you can lick anything you want to. I have reached a pooint where i am sick of the SMALL group of small-minded folks who are intent on destroying this site. It is time to flush the toilet and get some of the poo off the membership list. We have enjoyed several years of great cameraderie here for a reason , and thats because we all try to get along. My opinion is that if you dont like it here...DONT LET THE DOOR HIT YA WHERE THE GOOD LORD SPLIT YA. I would vote that we anybody intent on bringing this site to a negative place. Sorry to rant but anyone who thinks we will improve this site by allowing the poor behavior that you want , needs to start a new forum where you can bash each other , have no rules and lick to your hearts content.
Did I already say I love this site and I think we have some of the finest members possible. The time has come to take a stand against those who would undo this great place.

I guess that depends on who's being bashed.  I've seen certain call makers get dragged through the mud with no recourse and others always are offered up protection.  Does that sound fair to you?  Shoot, in one instance, a mod was involved in the mud slinging.  To say that every call maker on here is afforded the same amount of respect and protection is absolute garbage.  To say otherwise is an outright lie.

The callmaker you refer to NEVER had anything constructive to add here. The only time he posted was when he chose to badmouth that other callmaker. If you dont have anything positive to bring to the table then move on to something  else. Ronmexico , you are on that list too. You never add anything positive, you only seem to enjoy stirring the pot with controversy. Guess what, the rest of us are tired of reading all the negative stuff. If you dont like it here ...move on . FLUSH , SWIRL...GONE.
 Anyone who wants to bring this site down should be banned. And everyone who thinks we will improve this site by allowing piss poor behavior , you are wrong ! Osage Roost as well as OG do not tolerate that garbage and thats why these are the two best forums for turkey hunters. I sense some positive changes coming but they dont involve uncontrolled discussions and unmoderated behavior.

When I have had to recruit a youngen to help me sand calls in a pinch I tell them this:

We strive for perfection, all the while knowing it is unattainable. That usually gets my point across in a brief sentence. Have had those that thought rounding the corners to thier specs looked better than what the sample given to them was. It was thier last day in the shop. If we cant follow directives AGREED to, why participate in any venture or activity? Your way is not nessesarily the best way.

Bob the behavior must be moderated.  However, the MODS need to be impartial and we are not 100% there.

While we're deleting rules, rule #1 needs to be gone.  It's obvious that the mods allow certain call makers to get drug through the mud, while seemingly standing in line to give others a reach around.

I would suggest re-thinking that, it is obvious, it is not True. I have seen call makers ran through the Mud, and the Mods allowed it.

Bob, You should be 1 voice of many, by stating and acting the way you are here, it seems you seem to think you are separate, or have more voice, than other members, all should be equal, and we all know, it is not that way.

Let the Moderators Moderate, as it should be.

Activity which is detrimental to this forum IS against the rules and anybody guilty of trying to ruin this site or anyone pm'ing other members to drop out should delete their account or be banned from membership. I try hard to get along with everybody i meet and hate controversy like this.
 Lets get rid of the bad apples so that the rest of the basket stays fresh.
 Did I mention how much I like Mike Porter and the Osage Roost group ? If you dont like our sandbox , get out, dont talk your cat into crapping in our sandbox !

Bounty hunter, I made no statements saying my voice is stronger than any other member. I just happen to have the guts to stand up for whats right and wrong . I love this forum and i will take a stand aganst anyone who wants to ruin it. You got one thing right, let the moderators moderate , quit telling them how to do it. My voice is just a little one but i can guarantee you thatI am speaking for the majority  here.

Bob... are you serious with that first sentence?  That explains the direction we're headed in...and it's the wrong direction!!!

I think what few that are left of the original 10 that started with ole Porter back on day 1 would love to see this site like it was back in those days. Everyone felt they belonged and everything was positive. A bunch of turkey hunters that liked nice turkey calls. Real simple. There were several cliques back then instead of just one. Each person had a place they fit in. Porter may have appeared to be a scatter brain but he sure had a way to keep everyone happy. I hate to say it but he is pretty smart guy.

 If a person has been banned from this site already and somehow got back on here or if they have been banned from every site they have been on they are probably a trouble maker looking for more.

Some people I know left the site got banned and other reasons. I thought you at one time left the site also. I maybe wrong on this but I recall reading a few post with you as a guest.

I left on my own and came back when Jeff asked me to. I was gone about a week. Sorry but I have not been banned from here, OG, Sunnyside, CCO, GON, or any other that I know of.

I was banned from OG and Sunnyside. Still a member on CCO, GON,HPA, Gobbler nation and Turkey and turkey hunting. Just so you know the facts because from some people whO yOu talk to that the truth is far from what that persOn tells yOu
