All that is needed is Competent Judges, Ran the same as the Stage callers as far as judging.

Each judge is a competent player, and each judge scores each call entered privately, scores are added, a winner picked.


How much easier could it be ?

If you wish to judge, you must volunteer.  The NWTF will send you a letter asking what division you would like to judge and some other info.  On second thought the letter was included in the entry packets.  Karen Cavender is the person to contact, she is a pleasure to deal with.

After long deliberation I feel I have come to the only reasonable conclusion in regards to judging.  I think we should have the NWTF trap a group of Wild Turkeys and put them in a large circular enclosure.  Each call maker will have 1 minute to entice as many turkey to within (x) feet of the designated standing area.  Most turkeys called in Wins first, second, etc.  Then the turkeys will be relocated to Florida for their service to the NWTF and enjoy the weather and create another hybrid subspecies.  Since I thought of the idea I will also be sent to Florida for 2 weeks to assist with acclimating them to the enviroment.  Sounds reasonable.

Would never work after coming to the 1st caller the birds would be call shy and would hide on the other end of the enclosure.

Maybe the call candidates now will need to wear turkey costumes and do strutting dances to lure the wild judges to them.  It's really starting to come together quite nicely.  No feeding the birds allowed!!!

This whole discussion has and will forever be debatable, arguable and questionable.  What's next...judging the judges to sort out who was competent and proficient enough to be a judge?

Then you'll have argument there too.  I know and have heard argument that this person or that person was a great caller/player and come to find out they weren't as great as lead to believe.... then wonder how in the heck they were credited as good callers.  It'll never be perfect or full proof.  Too many opinions.

Example, I have heard of guys who were top notch players and when I finally got to hear them for myself..... they weren't as good as I was lead to think and sometimes even sucked.  When learning to play the trumpet I was told a thousand methods, beliefs and techniques and then heard feedback from all sorts of people only to find out about 75% of the feedback and teachings was garbage instruction from folks who themselves couldn't even play them and I was lead to believe they were the guys to go to.  Just my 2 cents on it all.  Good luck sorting it out.

I'll bet I could easily call geese with a tube call.  I sound much more like a goose with a tube call than a turkey.
