Glad ya made it outta there in one piece.  Coulda been alot worse.  I spent a seriously LONG time wondering around down in a big river bottom / swamp in Florida couple years ago.  No GPS or compass. Found someones tracks a couple times (mine ) And did spend a nite out on the Continetal divide in WY back before GPS. Man yer story was giving me flashbacks! Be safe out there folks.

I've  used my phone and Google maps to find my way a few times but you can't always rely on a phone.  I may need to get me one of those GPS units.

I left mine laying on the table when I left for Mississippi. But I had a compass and I thought that would be all I needed. That compass did not show me where the road dead ended and I walked to the south of it and my truck.

The golf ball sized hail to the head hurt but the lightning flashing and striking around me really shook me up. That bothered me a lot worse than the thought of spending the night in the woods.
