Anyone know anything about Spectra Shot turkey loads
« on: March 17, 2013, 09:02:32 PM »
They are called White Lightning.  Tehy appear to be roll crimped and are nickel plated lead shot.  Come in #6 for 12 gauge 3".

Many places here in MO we must hunt with non toxic, but I saw these on a show today and I'm thinking of building a lead only gun again and these kind of peaked my interest.

Link is here...  http://spectrashot.net/turkey-load/

Not sure how they shoot or how they would pattern, but they are a higher end lead shell but might be worth it if they pattern better...

I've been researching a little on them. There is not a whole ton of real world data on them, but from what i have seen they are patterning pretty well for a lead shell with a meager payload.. With this being said do not know if it justifys the price..

If I were setting a gun up strictly for the use of lead, I would look at the Wal-Mart Exclusive Federal Turkey Thug in a 3 or 3.5 inch 6.. They are tearing the patterning board up with some of the best lead patterns ever seen.

I have called every Wal-Mart within an hour and cannot find 6s..  *poo* So I am going to have a member from another board send me some.. They only run 10 bucks, less than half of the white lightning load.

Thanks and I'm going to grab some... I know I've seen the 6s but didn't know if the thugs were any good or not!!!

Now I have a new item to search for :)

I have not shot lead in so many years.  We have a ton of places that are non toxic only...

The thugs are doing very well.. But a word of advice if you do decide to go that route.. It is a Wal Mart exclusive as well as a 9.99 load.. This meaning at any time and "poof" they are gone for good, additionally with the price, if any of the components go up they will seek a cheaper alternative.. So I guess what I am saying, if they work good for you.. Buy every box you can find at every Wal mart.

Just bought a box and hope to shoot them this weekend.  Do you know if they have the flight control wad?  I looked over the box and didn't see mention of it... but I'm getting older and my eyesight isn't what it used to be :(

The walmart here had over 30+ boxes of the #6s...

No FCW.. It looks glaringly similar to the Fed Strut Shok.. But a reloader on another board dissected one of each and it contains more buffering and a different gas seal than the Strut Shok.
