In 2002 I sent a Roanoke River Basin type call to Dwain Bland. Over a period of a few years he made some modifications to it, and then went on to develop his own design. In 2005 he had finished two calls that met his approval. One ended up in my hands. Dwain's remarks were, if I liked his call, I could reproduce it, giving him credit was all the payment he wanted. To quote Dwain, "I'd just hope he'd give a handle with my last name". This has been done.
I have scanned and compiled the content from four of Dwain's letters, tracing the development of his design, and his remarks concerning the instrument. The four letters have not been copied in their entirety, out of respect for the privacy of a genuine old turkey man who has gone on to his reward.
I hope to have a few of these calls available, along with their history, around the beginning of January.
