California Deer Hunting
« on: August 13, 2012, 06:24:11 PM »
well i havent been around much lately, been very busy, i took some time to go deer huntin on opening day for Northern Callie "A" zone, WOW! 115 on Saturday, Sunday was a little cooler, Sunday was a good day though, shot a coyote in the morning, (no pics though) then about an hour later spotted this ole boy, over a 600yd shot, Blacktails are a real challenge, feel very fortunate for gettin this guy. 4x2 rack with a really cool 3 point eyeguard, i know Whitetails get much bigger than our little jackrabbits but these thing are REALLY hard to hunt, i mean REALLYYYYYY HARD TO HUNT....

Nice one!! When do deer in California shed their velvet? I cannot imagine deer hunting this time of year.

i am with ya on that one, (huntin this time of year) they should push the season back a month, the typicall shed their velvet between late june to early july, some of the older bucks seem they shed a little later than the yougins....

no comments on the "over 600 yard shot" !?  Geez man, you make it seem like the deer was in your back yard.  If you dont have a hunting show then I think you should start one!  That cold Sierra Nevada Pale Ale looks good too!  :o

you should have seen me, after gettin home i held the garden hose over my head... this was actually taken on our property here in California, we have in excess of 1500 acres with that being alot of range land..... I shoot a 257 weatherby Mag and it is a flat shootin son of a gun, and the weatherby rifle is awesome for accuracy....
