Well good afternoon all and you sorry southerns who's season is over....but up north of the great wild we are still hitting it hard and today while back home looking in on my ailing father I came down 30 minutes to hunt with Chuck.  Ole Chuck was a mess this morning, poor fella didn't sleep a wink all night just-a all tore up and nervous about gettting me on a bird.  The pressure was on for sure, but this ole turkey thug called me late yesterday after I arrived to dad's and said he had located some longbeards and it was ON!.  Arriving at 4:30 this am Chuck greets and says well ya know about those birds I told on last night, well we ain't hunting them cause I found 2 hot loners close to home and that's where we are headed.

We arrive and sit tight waiting for the 1st gobble...man I tell Chuck I darn near forgot what a gobble sounds like since they ain't been gobbling back home for the past 2 weeks.  Sit tight Chuck says we gotta know where they are.  5:10 am he hits and game on.  We scramble set up and wait he hits agin no more than 100 yards.  We work that walnut handled pot call chuck made and he hammers on it.  Then we break out a long box and sweet talked him..well he keeps gobbling nd then the second bird fires off...he hits again and then he hits the ground and makes a move to us.  Suddenly a twigs snaps and he is 30 yards hard to our left but we CAN"T MOVE!!  Wait...wait....now he's in view but we gotta wait...he gets to the tree I make the move...3 more steps   flop flop flop!!!  Stats, 16lbs, 9.5" beard and 3'4" spurs a dandy 2 yr old who ain't olde  than 2 no more!

A great moment...for sure

Congrats on the great hunt guys! Way to put the hammer down Scott. As Eddie Salter says, "That bird is as good as he is ever going to get." I know Chuck was sure excited last night about all the gobblers he saw yesterday.

So okay, just like my calls I am now taking orders for a sweet mini still just like ya see pictured here.  *peep* *bannana* I have 2 already penciled in so who wants to send their down payment? ROTFLMBO *up*

Couple of old farts dun pretty good today!  I only had to help Chuck up to mtns and carry him across the creek once.. *lol*.least I could do for him putting us on birds.
