Ok, I'm thinking about pulling the trigger and trying to make my first box call. I've only ever used chisels and hand carving tools (and the dremel here and there) to do the very small amount of woodworking that I have done; haven't tried a turkey call yet. I'm slowly learning to use other tools that will make the job a little easier, and one day I will finally learn to use this lathe that I bought about a year ago!
I want to start out with a Gibson-style box first. I have some blocks of cedar that would be great for it, and I can use my miter saw to cut them into the right shapes. I read that people typically carve, drill, or route out the sound chamber. I don't have a router (yet), so I might be a bit limited. Does anyone have advice for me, as to the best method for carving-out the sound chamber?
Thanks!
Gaines
