Opening day here in Tenn found me setting vigil overly confidant with 3 longbeards I had ben watchng in this field atop a corn field at the base of a very nice hardwood rigde. Daylight came and went without the medly of gobbling I expected at the least. I was perplexed what had happened. Funny how when you are so confidant with a set up, that humilty usually follows !!!!
I decided that time was needed to allow it to happen sdo I settled in with the camera at ready !! About 10:30 I finally got a gobble from a suspect and after two calls to him he entered the cornfield and began headed for me.
This bird came and left 3 times that afternoon gobbling pretty well to say the least. He owned the field it seemed. I bet that the 3 longbeards would only tolerate so much and come in mad--that never happened. But, the jake did gobble up this hen and here is what followed...
The hen came in and immediatlly sat in front of the confused little feller....he didnt know exactlly what he was supposed to do---I immediatlly named him Brent Stoners twin as I can see the common trait bewteen he and poor little Brent ......He finally got through practicing and nature took its coarse. This is a snip it of the 15 minutes I shot of the little confused Stoner,I think he was walking on her back for over 3 minutes .....
